MAKE GROUPS FROM YOUR ROSTER
Random teams, with nobody left out
Use this team generator for games, workshops, study groups or activities. Every entry in your list is assigned once, and team sizes differ by no more than one person. It mixes the roster randomly; it does not balance ability, experience or friendships.
1. Paste the roster
Use one person per line. If two people share a name, add an initial or another label so the result is easy to follow.
2. Choose the grouping
Select Number of teams to set how many groups to create. Select People per team to set the maximum group size. The size preview explains the split.
3. Make and take the teams
Choose Make teams, review each group, then copy or download the result. Switch to the name wheel to pick a starter or shuffle the roster for an order.
Example: Ten people split into three teams become groups of four, three and three. Setting a maximum of three people per team instead creates four groups of three, three, two and two.
Team generator questions
What happens if the groups cannot be equal?
Larger groups receive one extra person. No person is dropped to make the arithmetic work. For example, seven entries across three teams gives sizes of three, two and two.
Does People per team mean an exact size?
It is a maximum. The tool creates enough teams to fit everyone, then distributes people evenly. Twenty-nine people with a maximum of six gives five teams of six, six, six, six and five.
Are these teams balanced by skill?
They are balanced by size only. The tool does not know the participants’ abilities, roles, preferences or availability. Review the groups if your activity needs additional constraints.
Can the same person appear in two teams?
Each input occurrence is assigned once. If the same person was entered twice, both entries are included. Review the roster first; people with identical names can use distinct labels.
What is the limit?
You can use up to 1,000 entries. Choose a whole number from one to the number of entries for the group setting. Your names are processed in this browser.
